Department Purpose Located in the Office of Undergraduate Education, the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) works collaboratively and creatively with instructors and university academic administrators to foster, build, implement, and institutionalize evidence-based and equitable instructional practices at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). This work is in direct alignment with Goal 1 and Goal 3 of the UC Davis To Boldly Go Strategic Plan (https://leadership.ucdavis.edu/strategic-plan). CEE seeks an Education Specialist for Hybrid and Online Pedagogies. CEE invites candidates who can contribute to a culture of equity-mindedness and a strengths-based outlook both to student learning and the teaching community at UC Davis. Job Summary Under general direction of and reporting to the Director of the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), the Education Specialist for Hybrid and Online Pedagogies provides support for instructional initiatives of the Office of Undergraduate Education (UE) and University of California, Davis (UC Davis). As an integral member of CEE, this Education Specialist designs, administers, and evaluates programmatic efforts related to the advancement of evidence-based and equity-focused learning for the UC Davis teaching community (e.g., ladder-rank professors, teaching professors, adjunct faculty, graduate student instructors/teaching assistants, and postdoctoral scholars). The Education Specialist for Hybrid and Online Pedagogies designs, administers, and evaluates programmatic efforts related to the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) for teaching and learning in hybrid, online, and virtual settings. These duties include: 1) leading initiatives in educational development programming across disciplines for hybrid and online teaching; 2) conducting learning and teaching consultations for faculty at the intersection of pedagogy and educational technology; 3) serving as the staff contact in system-facing efforts to build instructional capacity in hybrid and online settings; 4) designing effective teaching and learning materials for interactive multimedia formats; 5) facilitating and supporting learning colloquia/communities; and 6) working collaboratively with campus partners on matters related to learning and teaching in hybrid and online courses with key instructional units and initiatives at UC Davis (e.g., The Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Academic Technology Services, Office of Student Success and Judicial Affairs; Student Disability Services).
