Job Description

 

Portland Community College seeks applicants for two full-time permanent positions in our Adult Education Department. We seek faculty applicants whose lived experiences, community connections, and scholarly credentials prepare them to provide transformational education for our students and our region.

These positions will start in the fall of 2024 at Sylvania Campus or Rock Creek Campus. Please indicate your preferred campus in your cover letter.

Instructors are expected to:


Teach reading, writing, math, social studies and/or science courses in multiple modalities (including on campus classes each term)
  • . Conduct office hours in person or remote for the purpose of assisting students and advising as necessary. Participate and lead in committee work
  • . Use a trauma informed and culturally responsive practice as a foundation in their own teaching and in their mentoring and assessment of other faculty
  • . Be familiar with Adult Learning Standards

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Education, Adult Education, or in a related field an

Starting Salary Expectations
Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($64,562) and Step 3 ($68,491) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Please note that Portland Community College is not currently able to provide visa (e.g. H1-B Visa) sponsorship for potential employees.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.

Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
