Summary of Job Duties:

This is a 9-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant
professor in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. The position is expected to be 50%
teaching and advising, 40% research, and 10% service. The chosen candidate will be expected
to have meaningful contributions to the research literature on diet and human health. Areas of
research may include, but not limited to:
• Understanding the role of diet on metabolic health, chronic disease, and/or cancer risk
across the lifespan,
• Systems approach to develop sustainable solutions to nutrition and human health needs,
• Community and public health.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate nutrition and dietetics courses,
mentoring honors and graduate students, and academic advising. This position is part of
ongoing efforts to grow the Human Nutrition program and expand nutritional science research
between human nutrition and food science to enrich human health. Basic and translational
scientists are encouraged to apply.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD in human nutrition, nutritional science, or closely related field

  • Training in human nutrition research

  • Evidence of potential for effective classroom teaching at the university level

  • Ability to conduct research activities independently and collaboratively

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • Familiarity with Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD) and related expectations of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

  • Qualification to teach graduate core courses in human nutrition (e.g., nutritional biochemistry, medical nutrition therapy)

  • Postdoctoral research experience

  • History of interdisciplinary training or collaborations

  • Demonstrated potential to develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program

  • Published research in peer reviewed scholarly journals
