Job Summary

Midland College is seeking an Associate Vice President of Instructional Support to provide leadership in a collaborative environment built on mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement. Candidate must have a commitment to student success, equity, and integrity. The Associate Vice President will play a key leadership role in Instruction, serve on the Administrative Council, and work closely with other administrators, faculty, and staff to enhance student learning by aligning Instructional initiatives with the Midland College mission and strategic plan to #StartStriveSucceed. 
The AVP will support diverse academic credit programs and align curriculum with State and SACSCOC accrediting requirements. In addition, the AVP will oversee the Learning Resource Center, the Williams Regional Technical Training Center, and the Midland College Fitness Center.
Midland College awards certificates, associate degrees and baccalaureate degrees and supports completion through student-centered instruction and student services. 51% of graduates earn a Certificate and/or Applied Associates degree. An additional 47% of students earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree. With a 52% Hispanic population, our 5,500 students reflect the demographics of the wider five-county service area. Thanks to local philanthropy and broad community support, Midland College offers more than 200 local scholarships. 
Midland College is a member of the SACSCOC Reaffirmation Class of 2021. The Associate Vice President will play an important role in the completion and implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plan.

Required Qualifications

Completed Master’s degree and commitment to complete Doctorate from an accredited university
Three years of higher education leadership experience or three years of secondary dual credit leadership experience
The person in this position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information
Three years of teaching experience
Knowledge of and experience with dual credit programming requirements
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining educational partnerships (K-12, college, and University)
Curriculum development experience
Knowledge of and experience with:
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges accreditation requirements
- Texas Administrative Code and Texas Education Code
- The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board structure and requirements, including the Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM), Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM), and/or Texas Education Agency structure and requirements including the Public Education Information System (PEIMS), Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), College, Career, and Military Readiness standards (CCMR), Texas College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM), and approved Programs of Study
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

Completed Doctorate from an accredited university
Community college leadership experience
Experience with Early College High Schools
Knowledge of Guided Pathways to Success organization and services

Essential Functions

Ensure quality and comparability of dual credit offerings
Collaborate with service area high schools, institutions of higher learning, and community entities to align programs from dual credit to work or transfer
Evaluate and maintain current articulation agreements and instructional MOUs
Work closely with academic deans and instructional divisions to provide leadership in curriculum development, coordination, revision, and evaluation
Manage the work of the College’s Curriculum Committee
Oversee the development and publication of the College’s catalog
Collaborate with Associate Vice President of Workforce Education
Oversee Instructional Support Services Division, including the Learning Resource Center, Teaching and Learning Center, Testing Services, the Williams Regional Technical Training Center, and other academic support services
Support the quality of the College’s online offerings through technical support and professional development
Ensure that all College sites are supported by adequate, current, accessible library and learning resources.
Manage currency of web content for instructional programs and services
Serve on Administrative Council
Provide leadership for College guided pathways
Collect, compile, and disseminate student, program, and institutional data
Represent the College in State and National professional organizations
Oversee and evaluate staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instructional Services and President

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
Use of manual dexterity
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
General office, college, and instruction facilities
Duties indoors and some outdoors
Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
The person in this position needs to regularly move or drive from office to other locations on and off-campus
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

Pay Statement
