The College is in the City of Keene (https://keenenh.gov/), a small, vibrant New England town in the southwestern corner of the state. The town boasts a first-rate theater venue, eclectic restaurants and shopping, and numerous outdoor activities. The College is located just an hour away from some major ski resorts in New Hampshire and Vermont, less than 2 hours to NH beaches, and two hours from Boston.
Candidates for Assistant Professor must hold an earned doctorate in occupational safety or related field. ABD near completion will be considered but must be completed by August 1, 2024. All candidates must hold a master’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field; current or able to obtain CSP or CIH within 3 years; and demonstrated high school, college, or industrial setting level teaching effectiveness in class, online, and/or lab including planning preparation, teaching, assessment, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will deliver effective and engaging courses to support student understanding, application, assessment, and improvement of safety, occupational health and environmental health management components and systems. All candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in teaching modalities including classroom, laboratory, and on-line for undergraduate courses. Tenure-track applicants may be assigned to teach online graduate SOHAS courses. Tenure-track professors are also expected to engage students in research as part of their scholarship at the College.
This appointment will serve the College’s Safety and Occupational Health majors with primary teaching responsibilities integrating the following areas: manufacturing, construction, risk management, general industries, and worker training. Additional responsibilities will include student advisement, curriculum development, laboratory management, and department and College service. Faculty provide service to the College through sponsorship of and participation in committees, clubs, and activities. Scholarly activity is required for tenure-track. Teaching load typically includes three 4-credit undergraduate and graduate courses per academic semester with additional teaching opportunities during the summer session. Faculty may also have an opportunity to teach courses in the College’s Integrative Studies Program (http://www.keene.edu/isp/), depending on SOHAS course loads.
