The Coordinator of Student and Employee Advocacy plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive campus environment. This position oversees student conduct processes and implements initiatives to promote cultural programming and awareness, fostering a sense of belonging at the College. By ensuring consistent application of the Student Code of Conduct, and fostering a culture of respect and mutual understanding, the coordinator works collaboratively with stakeholders to strengthen the sense of community across the college
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher. NOTE: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
- Two years of experience in student conduct, cultural programming, or related roles in higher education
- Knowledge of relevant laws and policies (e.g./ Title IX, FERPA, ADA, Clery Act).
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an engaging environment for all in an educational setting.
- Experience with restorative justice practices and conflict resolution techniques.
- Familiarity with assessment tools and strategies for building strong relationships.
Student Conduct Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of the Student Code of Conduct, including receiving, investigating, and resolving complaints regarding violations.
- Conduct student hearings and mediate disputes to ensure fair and impartial outcomes.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders (e.g., faculty, SLE, campus safety) to address conduct-related concerns.
- Stay informed about legal and regulatory developments affecting student conduct in higher education.
- Make routine visits to all off-campus sites to ensure campus civility is maintained in all areas
Campus Community Engagement
- Develop and deliver programs and workshops to foster understanding, respect, and inclusivity among students, faculty, and staff.
- Support the creation and implementation of the college’s strategic plan to promote community engagement, in line with institutional priorities.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students from underrepresented and historically underserved populations.
- Partner with faculty, student organizations, and community groups to encourage cultural exchange and meaningful engagement.
- Conduct evaluations and process reviews of programs and services to identify any barriers to education, measure their impact and recommend enhancements for continuous improvement.
- Assist the Dean of Student and Employee Advocacy with planning and coordinating cultural events.
- Collaborate with campus leadership to address concerns related to bias, discrimination, and harassment.
