Job Description:
This position provides coordination, analysis, evaluation, management, and support of the Academic Affairs and Workforce Education (AAWE)unit, College curriculum, and the Honors Program. This includes processing the flow, progress, completion, and recording of the College curriculum and the college catalog in collaboration with various offices across the College and state Department of Education. This position also directs marketing, recruitment, selection, curriculum, retention, evaluation, and continuous improvement processes of the Honors Program for the College. The Director is a critical member of the Academic Affairs and Workforce Education team, specifically a leader among the faculty and academic and workforce leadership. The Director represents the College President and Provost at relevant internal and external meetings and events.

Essential Functions and Duties:???

Honors Program Management 

  • Direct the execution of policies and procedures governing the selection and progression of students through the Honors program.

  • Analyzes student information, communicates with administrators, students, and other stakeholders; provides interim and annual progress reports on program activity; and distributes correspondence regarding the Honors program.

  • Grows the Honors program through recruiting efforts including, but not limited to, coordinating marketing and activities for the program such as Open Houses, brochures, and web page/social media posts.

  • Develops and executes student activities and events to enhance program members’ academic achievement. 

  • Ensures high-quality development, assembly, and compilation of all materials required for the program.

  • Disseminate program information to appropriate college recipients (administrators, advisors, faculty, and students).

  • Directs Honors Program review activities, including program evaluation and continuous improvement.

  • Develops department goals and strategies to achieve goals.

  • Understands broader institutional needs for Honors programming through collaboration with various offices of the College.

  • Manages the departmental budget for the Honors program.

 

Curriculum and Catalog Management 

  • Manages Academic Affairs curriculum software tools, Curriculog and Acalog. Facilitates faculty and program directors' use of Curriculog to create AQC proposals. Responsible for building and maintaining the academic program sections of the College catalog(s) using Acalog.

  • Directs and supports college-wide workflow (i.e., process, progress, completion, and recording) of the College curriculum. Assists departments in creating program proposals, or any other item, brought to AQC ensuring proper submission of documents. Enters curricular changes into Genesis/Banner. Maintains AQC proposals in a retrievable format.

  • Serves as institutional liaison to Statewide Course Numbering System.

  • Reviews, edits, and prepares AQC proposals with appropriate contextual data from faculty and program directors for final review by Dean/Provost.

  • Maintains directed areas of the Polk State website.

  • Updates manuals and policies in collaboration with faculty or other college personnel.

  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of underlying College operations to assist personnel in the planning, development, and implementation of special projects, program reports, and materials as it relates to curriculum development, conferences, and programming.

 

Enrollment Management and Data Analysis

  • Identifies data to be collected for Academic Affairs and Workforce Education and ensures data is accessible and comprehensible. 

  • Provides clear recommendations delineating how and for what purposes institutional data may be used to promote the goals of Academic Affairs and Workforce Education. 

  • Understanding broader institutional data needs through collaboration with various offices of the College.

  • Creates, analyzes, and presents reports related to Academic Affairs and Workforce Education including, but not limited to, student success, faculty performance, course materials, and potential curricular updates.

  • Analyzes and presents data related to faculty recruitment and retention, promotion and tenure, and other key areas such as annual/continuing contracts, demographics, student success, and term appointment end date.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of institutional programs and policies supporting faculty and explore strategic areas of interest/improvement to senior leadership.

  • Supports and promotes the College’s strategic plan.

  • Evaluate the success and impact of faculty initiatives, including defining outcomes, analyzing success, and recommending data-informed improvements. 

  • Collaborates with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation, and Research in various departments/offices in the program enhancement cycle, encompassing the design and implementation of data-driven improvements to programs and outcomes. Utilizes the resulting data to enhance enrollment, retention, and completion data related to teaching and student learning

  • Participates in and collaborates with the college-wide enrollment team to analyze and enhance enrollment, retention, and completion. 

  • Researches, gathers, analyzes, and presents data on projects undertaken by Academic Affairs.

  • Performs other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Provost.

Required Skills:

  • Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare/evaluate the readily observable, functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (like or divergent from obvious standards) of documentation, files, accounts, and equipment. Advanced technology/software skills to include but are not limited to Google Suite, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Genesis, Banner, Acalog, Zoom, website maintenance, databases/data platforms, etc.

  • Inter- and intra-personal Skills: Works collaboratively with College personnel and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality of relevant data/information. ?Includes issuing and receiving assignments, instructions, and/or directions. Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards.

  • Language Ability:??Requires the ability to read Standard English, as well as technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc.? Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats.? Requires the ability to communicate, with tact and good judgment, with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.

  • Critical Thinking Skills:??Requires strong skillset in the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions or inquiries furnished in written/oral form; to acquire knowledge of topics related to occupation. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with special attention to detail. Knowledge of principles and practices of program design, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

  • Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral/written instructions.? Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, the public, and students.

  • Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide; calculate decimals and percentages; and compute/interpret statistical analysis. 

  • Knowledge:??Must possess knowledge of accepted policies and practices in American higher education related to building and maintaining college curricula, course structure, course prerequisites, program outcomes, course objectives, instructional method theory, and practical applications.

 

Working Conditions/Additional Information
  • This position is a full-time on-campus position located at our Lakeland campus. (Remote/hybrid options are not available.) 
  • Weekend and evening work may be required.
  • Position may be required to work during College closures (such as winter/spring break and inclement weather closures).
  • Travel to seminars and conferences required.  

Salary and Benefits Information
  • This position is a level P17

Required Education:
  • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited university or college is required.


Preferred Education:
  • A doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Instruction and Curriculum, or a related field is preferred. 


Required Experience:
  • Five years of professional, exempt experience including, but not limited to, working collaboratively with faculty and staff on college curricula development is required.


Preferred Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience in education program coordination is required. Experience in accelerated student/honors programs preferred.
