Primary Purpose:

Maintains a complex geospatial model in SDG&E's the Enterprise Geographic Information System with a high degree of accuracy and precision to ensure essential data is available. Performs pre-construction and post-construction quality assurance of construction documents. Collaborates with Project Management, construction, and stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure consistency of construction documents. Reconciles construction materials and creates the final as-built for SDG&E.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs pre-construction quality assurance of preliminary designs submitted by Project Management. Performs post-construction quality control of as-built documents submitted by construction. Provides feedback and work collaboratively across different departments to ensure project success.
  • Maintains a complex geospatial model in GIS with a high degree of accuracy and precision to meet internal and external requirements for electric transmission, distribution, substation, and telecommunications. Interprets, analyzes, and validates graphical work designs, construction maps, and all related information to update and maintain the Enterprise GIS in compliance with CPUC, NERC, FERC, WECC and GO regulations. Maintains expertise in various company systems for tracking work, fulfilling requests, and retrieving work order documents and engineering drawings.
  • Provides guidance and solutions to Project Management and construction. Collaborates with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure consistency in construction documents. Reconciles construction materials to ensure GIS and accounting are accurate and create the final as-built for SDG&E.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Hybrid Schedule:

  • Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED.
  • 1 year related administrative responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cartography and Cartographic principles.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, analyze, integrate graphic and attribute data from multiple data sources into an enterprise GIS; interpret and understand maps of different types such as AUTO Cad, parcel maps, imagery, environmental, utility, aerial imagery.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong research, analytical and interpretation skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to establish priorities, work independently and meet time critical needs/demands with close attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to both a technical and non-technical audience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in geography, geospatial sciences, computer science or related field or experience.
  • Experience with cartography, photogrammetry, GIS, surveying or related discipline.
  • GIS Certificate.
  • Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution FERC and NERC requirements.
  • Ability to read construction orders, electric distribution and transmission system maps.
