Technical Associate I, Hammond Lab

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Hammond Lab, to join a team of researchers developing modular nanoparticle platforms for the delivery of therapeutics. The research focus will be on formulating, characterizing, and testing nanoparticle formulations in vitro and in vivo, and providing support for multiple projects in drug delivery.  Will join a collaborative team and perform cutting-edge research and contribute as a co-author to publications and conference presentations.  Responsibilities include working with researchers to formulate and characterize nanoparticles; testing formulations in vitro--including flow cytometry, microscopy, and ELISA assays—and designing and executing oncology mouse studies, including tumor inoculation, non-invasive imaging, and dosing; maintaining accurate laboratory notebook and protocols; performing data analysis; and presenting findings. As experience increases, will be expected to initiate changes to procedures and be encouraged to co-author manuscripts and conference presentations. Will assist in lab responsibilities, which may include keeping inventory of supplies, maintaining/ordering lab equipment, and ensuring hazardous waste disposal follows policies. 

This position will be ~90% research and ~10% lab duties and is ideal for someone looking to gain research experience before applying to graduate school.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a STEM or related field; at least two years of hands-on lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate; willingness and ability to independently engage in in vivo work after ample training has been provided; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; and commitment to rigorous, high-quality research. PREFERRED:  experience with nanoparticle formulation and characterization, cell assays, and in vivo techniques related to oncology models, dosing, and noninvasive imaging.  Job #24253
