Summary of Position

Keene State College invites applications for a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to help with laboratory preparation for classes and labs predominately in chemistry, but also in physics, environmental studies, or other areas of need as assigned by the supervisor. This is a 81%-time benefited position, 37.5 hours/week, with appointment dates that run August to May.

Responsibilities include: laboratory preparation, set-up, and clean up with appropriate regard for safe operation and safe disposal of chemical waste and oversees inventories including purchasing of chemicals and supplies.

  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related area
  • One to three years related experience and/or training

Salary Information

Duty/Responsibility

Lab preparation, set up, and clean up for chemistry and physics departments, as well as other departments within the college when assigned by the supervisor. Assist the instructor during lab classes when needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Oversee inventory of chemicals and supplies, identify items for ordering, safe disposal of chemical waste for the chemistry department, or others at the discretion of the supervisor. Optimize storage of materials and chemicals for the chemistry department. Create and maintain setup sheets for labs.

Duty/Responsibility

Supervise student workers to assist with responsibilities, when those tasks can not be covered by this position alone, or with the assistance of additional laboratory support. Consult with the supervisor to coordinate and identify need for student help, and also the department chair to identify candidates for student help.
