We have an immediate need for a full-time, exempt Chief Program Officer. The Chief Program Officer oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services. As a member of the Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn's executive leadership team, the Chief Program Officer delivers measurable impact by leading efforts to ensure programming is aligned with the organizational mission and strategic goals. This role ensures that after-school and out-of-school day programming meets the needs of the communities being served. The salary range for this onsite position is $95,000 - $105,000, commensurate with experience. As a full-time role, the Chief Program Officer is eligible to participate in the organization's benefits program.

POSITION OVERVIEW (What we're looking for)


Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Program Officer collaboratively articulates, implements, and operationalizes the strategic vision and programming objectives to enhance service delivery that strengthens youth-serving outcomes. The Chief Program Officer drives existing programming and service areas through innovation, measurable goals, and resources to identify and scale new areas of impact. This role requires a strategic thinker, effective communicator, and results-oriented leader with a passion for girls' empowerment and education.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES (What you'll be achieving)


At a minimum, the Chief Program Officer will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:

Program Development & Innovation

  • Lead the development and enhancement of innovative, evidence-based programs that empower girls to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to identify emerging needs and trends among girls and develop responsive programming.
  • Ensure that programs reflect best practices in youth development, social-emotional learning, and gender equity.

Program Implementation & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the implementation of programs across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, quality, and fidelity to program models.
  • Provide guidance and support to program staff to ensure effective program delivery, including training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement systems for monitoring program outcomes, collecting data, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Manage the reporting and evaluation of the programs and ensure the results are shared.
  • Embrace and support the organization's mission, demonstrating commitment to elevating mission effectiveness and continuous improvement.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to expand program reach and impact.
  • Represent Girls Inc. at community events, conferences, and meetings to raise awareness of the organization's mission and programs.
  • Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, share best practices, and advocate for policies that support girls' rights and opportunities.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to program staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new program staff as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational values and priorities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set performance goals, and provide ongoing feedback and support to staff members.

Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • Work closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that advance the organization's mission and vision.
  • Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, impact, and progress towards goals for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in fundraising efforts by providing programmatic data, stories, and insights to support grant proposals, donor communications, and fundraising events.

Related Affiliate Activities

  • Participate in community coalitions and committees as appropriate.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (What you'll bring along)

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in nonprofit management, business, public administration, or another related field. Master's degree is preferred.


Experience: Minimum of 10 years of related program management experience, including leadership roles. Preference may be given to prior experience in leading or supporting youth development, girls' empowerment, elementary school, or out-of-school time programs.

Qualifications: To be optimally successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Hands-on knowledge of regulatory compliance with the Department of Early Education Child Care and school age child care licensing compliance.
  • Solid understanding of gender equity issues.
  • Strong commitment to promoting opportunities and resources for girls from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating youth programs, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate as a team member.
  • Attention to detail to drive complex projects and initiatives to completion.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate as a team member.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applications to conduct day-to-day administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Capability to work onsite at the Lynn office building between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Mondays – Fridays; some evenings and weekends may be required.
