The School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University-Newark, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will help to develop and support seminar panels as part of the Mellon Sawyer Seminar Series, “Potentialities of Justice. Towards Collective Reparative Futures,” that will be held on the Rutgers University-Newark campus starting in Fall 2024 and concluding in Spring 2025. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a doctoral dissertation in the humanities or interpretive social sciences within the last 5 years on topics related to disability studies, carceral studies, climate and environmental justice, transitional justice, or reparative justice, in the United States or globally. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates whose scholarly focus or work experience examines the inter-relatedness of these subjects.
The Post-Doctoral Associate is expected to be an active participant in all aspects of the seminar. Primary responsibilities will be to conduct original research related to the seminar theme (which they will be invited to share and present in meetings); to assist in the organization of seminar meetings and other activities; and to attend and participate in all seminar meetings and events. The successful candidate will be housed in an academic department that best aligns with their research interests.
