Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D., MD, or equivalent.
  • Experienced in a relevant field of study such as Neurology, Neuroscience, Neurobiology,
Cognitive Neuroscience, or Sleep Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience in running scientific projects and contributing to multi-discipline
studies
  • Willingness to participate in planning, designing, and performing top-level science in relevant
fields.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interactions with patients/research
subjects.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience working with human subjects
  • Strong writing skills, including first-author, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Knowledge of alpha-synuclein pathology, relationship between SSRI medications and REM
sleep Behavior Disorder.

The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota wishes to hire a full-time postdoc. The postdoc will work primarily with Dr. Michael Howell on research related to serotonergic
REM sleep behavior disorder as an indicator of prodromal Lewy-body type Pathology. This research is primarily funded by NIH. Successful candidates should have the capabilities to work
in the fields of Neurology and Neuroscience.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research studies in sleep, REM sleep Behavior Disorder and Neurodegenerative disease. The activities include collection and data analyses, reports, and publication of findings. (25%)

2. Develop research ideas, projects, and study protocols. Actively participate in weekly lab meetings. Actively participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with PI and make constructive proposals. Generate relevant and novel research ideas for new projects. (25%)

3. Prepare and Present Abstracts including writing abstracts for submission to annual scientific meetings and presenting accepted abstracts as podium talks or posters during scientific meetings. (25%)

4. Manuscript writing and submission to scientific journals. Complete manuscripts and submit to peer-reviewed journals. (25%)
