This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Center Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Wireless Network Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of the wireless network, wired network and data security equipment critical for facilitating device communication. Responsibilities encompass ensuring access to various systems like EMR, Clinical/Medical equipment, Facility systems, and Business Applications, among others. They analyze logs for troubleshooting and network health assessment, while also maintaining comprehensive documentation of network topologies. Additionally, they support IS Security systems such as network firewalls, VPNs, and Cisco ISE network segmentation/NAC system.

This role provides 24/7 problem management support for networking, security, and related software applications, participating in an on-call rotation. Proficiency in diverse software tools for design, analysis, and implementation is required. Key technical areas include managing Cisco wireless controllers, access points, switches, routers, firewalls, LAN, WAN, DR, and Data Center topology. Duties involve gathering requirements from stakeholders, designing network solutions, researching technologies/methodologies, and documenting specifications. Incident/Problem Management of Network Systems and Technologies is central, including managing multiple incidents and collaborating with third-party service providers during outages. Rapid response to business-critical emergencies, proactive communication with stakeholders, and implementation of performance KPI reporting procedures are crucial. Regular compliance audits, documentation of the current environment for operational/planning purposes, and vendor management are also core responsibilities. This role extends to the operation and maintenance of the campus and medical center communications network, requiring advanced problem-solving skills and adherence to industry standards and organizational objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.

  • Professional experience, and proven success, managing communication and network systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco Catalyst 9xxx switches, routers, wireless controllers and wireless access points, Cisco ACI data center switching, Cisco switch stacking.

  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco wireless networks with over 500 access points

  • Experience managing Cisco large wireless networks with Cisco DNA Center

  • Understanding of optical networking - DWDM/CWDM, Optic types and use cases

  • Experience with Layer 2/3 access layer support and design; BGP routing, OSPF, EIGRP, ACI, SDN, VRF's, L2/L3 Multicast, PBR, STP, LACP and other high availability configurations and advanced network implementations.

  • QOS/VLAN configuration.

  • Firewall, NAT, VPN, IP-SEC configurations.

  • Solarwinds, Netflow, Thousand Eyes, Cisco Secure Network Analytics (Stealthwatch), Cisco DNA and other network monitoring/management tools

  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco ISE Trustsec and/or NAC

  • DHCP, DNS (Infoblox, Microsoft, etc).

  • Automation scripting experience

  • Network load balancers (Netscaler, F5, etc).

  • Knowledgeable in use of standard troubleshooting tools and such as ping, telnet, dig, traceroute, whois, netstat, ethercap, Wireshark, nmap, tcpdump, and misc other packet sniffers

  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE).

  • Experience in a healthcare or other 24/7 critical service environment.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
