Position Overview

The Vice President of Marketing, Precision Oncology will be responsible for setting and characterizing winning product strategies and developing related tactical plans that drive revenue growth. Product strategies will be developed based on comprehensive market and competitive research and will be data driven. Regional assessments and differences will form the basis of where to play recommendations and strategic plans. This role will be responsible for leading and developing marketers, collaborating with the precision oncology business unit and cross functional partners to achieve product goals and objectives.

This leader is responsible for driving the to achieve revenue goals within the US. This role will work closely with cross-functional partners and commercial leaders to define and implement marketing plans/programs to meet or exceed short and long-term business objectives.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop the business case and lead the development of key strategic and growth opportunities. These strategic initiatives should aim to build new capabilities for the Business Unit.
  • Develop and drive project plans with clear goals, operating mechanisms, program milestones, and regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key commercial stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Exact Sciences' commercial capabilities to aid in assessing strategic and growth initiatives.
  • Assist in creating commercial financial models for evaluation of strategic and growth opportunities.
  • Identify and manage project risks; escalate, as needed, for resolution.
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional project partners.
  • Develop and lead people.
  • Set clear performance expectations.
  • Provide relevant, meaningful and timely performance feedback.
  • Responsible for developing in market strategies across the product portfolio and leading the implementation of commercial programs and tactical plans that support the growth of our precision oncology portfolio with cross-functional teams. This includes product positioning,and messaging, marketing mix, awareness and educational plans, and customer and digital growth initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing promotional and medical education strategies across consumer & HCP audiences, with responsibility for media planning & buying, creative development, agency management, segmentation, product positioning and annual brand planning.
  • Set and measure key commercial and product milestones.
  • Develop communication and awareness strategies to drive product awareness and adoption across promoted products.
  • Note. Our portfolio covers risk through to remission + therapy response.
  • Everything below is a mix of future and present tense. Collaborate with sales leadership to develop marketing communications strategies and materials that support sales activities and product promotion.
  • Utilize and apply analytical tools and methods to measure product performance across regions and territories to plan, manage and execute pricing optimization strategies for multiple segments.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, organization, teamwork and project management skills.
  • Ability to constructively collaborate across key stakeholder groups.
  • Results-driven orientation: In an environment where there is increasing competition, the leader will work to achieve revenue goals through the implementation of agreed upon marketing strategies and must demonstrate a consistent sense of urgency to support the sales team in driving accelerated growth. I'm not clear on what this means.
  • Must demonstrate a track record of reviewing performance and progress on a regular basis to ensure the marketing team is achieving desired results; and testing to see if goals are sufficiently challenging and implement corrective actions to address missed goals. This could be talent and performance management experience.
  • Able to operate effectively in an environment wherein executives are expected to balance strategic activities with daily tactical activities, and to roll up their sleeves when appropriate.
  • Adaptable; capable of accurately assessing situations quickly and adapting plans accordingly. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a flexible and nimble manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • 15+ years of demonstrated success and diverse experience in marketing, sales and managed care, with positions of progressively greater scope and responsibility.
  • 10+ years of experience leading and coaching people.
  • 7+ years of experience working in molecular diagnostics.
  • Deep understanding of the oncology space, specifically in the areas of breast, colon and pancreatic cancer.
  • Strong overall knowledge of oncology marketing, including a track record of how to best position current and products, building fact- and insight-based innovative, compelling marketing programs.
  • Track record of building effective strategic and executing to success.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, organization, teamwork and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing, or field as outlined in the essential duties.

Salary Range:

$277,000.00 - $374,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
