• Teaches assigned classroom courses.
• Completes and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
• Completes appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and assures that student outcomes are achieved.
• Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
• Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, to include student attendance and grades.
• Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
• Maintains regular communication with Library and Learning Services staff.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide.
• Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
• Adheres to the objectives, policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.

• Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.

• Required Master’s degree in Speech or Communication or
• Required Master’s degree in another discipline with 18 graduate credits in Speech or Communications,
• Required Master’s degree in another discipline with five years of public speaking/communication experience.

• Two years of teaching experience preferred; ideally at the community college level.

• The job responsibilities of this position are performed in a classroom environment which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability. The environment has little, if any discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is light noise within the environment.
• There may be travel to other college locations for meetings. Travel between campus locations is required.
• Job duties may be performed in an independent or a team atmosphere.
• The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 45 pounds).
• Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some unpleasant situations.
• Work scheduled may vary each semester depending on class times/locations.
• Ability to travel to Shepherd High School in Shepherd, MI.
