Job Description

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at ACTRI in La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the Research Assistant will assist with research studies investigating social determinants of health, health disparities, health care access, and health outcomes among individuals diagnosed with cancer. Will contribute to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepare technical reports. Responsibilities will include conducting literature reviews and preparing written summaries, maintaining research files and reference databases, assisting with manuscript preparation, assist in data collection, and participate in research meetings. Will contribute to the pre-processing and review of data, assist in making figures and graphs. May also review medical records data and perform statistical analyses. Other duties assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge in computer science or related field.

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Proficiency in a reference management software program (e.g. EndNote, Reference Manager, RefWorks).

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong written communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to think creatively and critically.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to interact well with others to facilitate communication about lab requirements, including the ability to discuss and understand research plans in a constructive, professional and pleasant manner.

  • Excellent skill and ability to conduct literature searches using libraries and the internet.

  • Ability to prioritize, follow through on tasks, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience working in a research group.

  • Experience in public health or clinical research.

  • Experience preparing, submitting and maintaining documentation for Institutional Review Board.

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analytic techniques.

  • Experience conducting medical chart review.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,766 - $64,143 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.75 - $30.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
