Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as the Program Director of Desktop and Media Services.
 
With Desktop Services, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive oversight of all aspects related to desktop support within the college environment, including efficient functioning of both the Academic and Administrative areas. This position involves strategic planning and execution to meet the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff, while aligning with the institution's goals and objectives. You will collaborate closely with the IT program manager, other team staff members and student workers to streamline processes, enhance service quality, and optimize resource allocation. You will play a pivotal role in procurement decisions, vendor management, budgeting, and implementing best practices in desktop support operations.
 
With Media Services, you will lead another dynamic team responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of classroom technology and audiovisual support services across the college campus. In addition, this position will oversee and be responsible for audiovisual support for all campus events such as graduation ceremonies, guest speakers, and other functions requiring AV services.
 
As a strategic leader, you will collaborate closely with faculty and staff to understand the needs of these constituent groups, and your leadership will be instrumental in driving efficiency and excellence, and in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the campus community.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related work experience OR
Associate’s degree plus 6 years of related work experience OR
an equivalent combination of education (including certifications) and related experience can be considered.
2. Knowledge of desktop operating systems (e.g Windows and macOS) and proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
3. A strong understanding of media technologies and computer hardware with an understanding of how to integrate classroom hardware into a cohesive system.
4. Ability to lead a team of professionals and student workers, set priorities, delegate tasks effectively, and provide mentorship and guidance.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
The following skills, combined with a passion for education and a commitment to supporting teaching and learning will lead to a successful candidate:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders; ability to convey technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
2. Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies for desktop and media support services, including technology refresh cycles and integrating emerging technologies and trends.
3. Understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional design methodologies to support faculty in integrating media into teaching and learning activities.
4. Skills in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively within financial constraints.
5. Ability to develop training materials and provide technical training sessions for users and support staff. Creating and maintaining documentation for common procedures and troubleshooting steps.
6. A commitment to providing excellent customer service to both students and faculty/staff, including timely response to support requests and proactive communication.
7. The capacity to troubleshoot technical issues, address challenges creatively, and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic educational environment
8. Ability to build relationships with vendors, industry partners, and other educational institutions to stay informed about industry trends, explore collaborative opportunities. Ability to negotiate favorable contracts, obtain competitive pricing, and stay informed about product updates and support options.
9. The ability to make changes to desktop environments while minimizing disruption to users. Communicating effectively with stakeholders about upcoming changes and managing expectations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership to staff of Media Services and Desktop Services teams
2. Manage the purchase of the college’s audiovisual equipment, desktop and laptop computers, and peripherals.
3. Oversee the deployment of all computer desktops and laptops for student, faculty, and staff use.
4. Ensure compliance with software licensing requirements.
5. Manage audiovisual support for all events and functions at the college.
6. Maintain up-to-date documentation on Media Services and Desktop Services procedures.
7. Provide regular feedback to senior IT management on related areas of responsibility.
 
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary: $79,219 - $99,018 initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
