Position Summary

This position teaches related studies (i.e., Mathematics, English, Reading, etc.) coursework to students. The Related Studies instructor position is full-time under the direct supervision of the Dean of Instruction and/or Associate Dean of Instruction. The list below is the primary responsibilities of this position; however, other professional duties may be assigned by the Dean of Instruction and/or Associate Dean of Instruction to meet the College's needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Organizes program of instruction studies in subject areas, including demonstrations of how related skills are used in each student's file and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology.
  • Instruct students in subject areas such as mathematics, communication skills, and work habits.
  • Plans and supervises the work of students, individually or in small groups, classroom or laboratory.
  • Assesses and evaluates achievement of students in subject knowledge.
  • Maintains all records and provides reports as directed by the Dean of Instruction or his/her designee.
  • Serves on committees as needed.
  • Must be eligible to enter any/all Department of Corrections (DOC), Federal Correctional Institutions (FCI), and Pardons & Paroles Facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and J.F. Ingram State Technical College.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with twenty-seven (27) semester hours in the teaching field is required.

Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. D2 $38,161 - $82,541 for a nine-month contract; summer employment may be available dependent on enrollment. D2 $14,809 - $32,075 for a three-month contract.
