The College Coach & Domicile Specialist is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to The College Coach is a vital role, increasing awareness of Laurel Ridge Community College and serving as a resource and guide to prospective students from inquiry to enrollment.
College Coaches develop, plan, and execute strategies for increasing awareness of comprehensive community college programs. Serve as a liaison between students, community organizations and internal college unit inquiries to accurately provide current pathways program/student onboarding.
The College Coach provides high-quality service allowing prospective students to successfully complete the college onboarding process. College Coaches embrace a holistic model of care and use the case management approach to new student onboarding.
College Coaches serve as the primary point of contact for a new student – decreasing fragmentation of services and providing quality care across a continuum of enrollment requirements. The College Coach keeps prospective students engaged from the first point of contact through registration. The College Coach will provide guidance and direction for prospective and new students and support them from the moment of first inquiry, decreasing the length of time spent being interested in college to registered for college.
The College Coach works independently to interpret and apply policies and procedures as they actively and authentically engage the community and prospective and new students.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position is $41,655.00 to $52,920.00 per year however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. For more information, please visit

  • Understanding of and commitment to open-access community college philosophy.
  • Culturally competent with experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret policy and regulations and associated paperwork/documentation.
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to travel between campuses.

Additional Considerations
  • Experience in higher education, career services/planning or similar in providing educational/career guidance preferred.
