The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to faculty, staff, and administrators within the College in all HR activities including recruiting, employment, total compensation, employee relations, training and development. This role involves implementing and administering HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with College guidelines and regulatory requirements while fostering a positive work environment conducive to academic excellence.

As such, the incumbent is an exempt and confidential employee as defined in M.G. L. Chapter 150E, Section 1. The HR Generalist is expected to maintain exceptionally high degree of confidentiality, discretion and customer service in all matters related to this position.

  • Provides a broad range of HR administrative support and guidance to the the HR Office and College Community particularly around time-sensitive HR events and projects such as annual performance reviews, open-enrollment, annual service awards, etc.
  • Assists with projects related to Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Organizational Effectiveness, and Learning, among others.
  • Determine eligibility and manage leave of absences including FMLA/PFMLA/MPLA, Workers Compensation, and other leaves in accordance with state and federal guidelines, collective bargaining agreements, NUP handbook, and/or College policy by reviewing and assessing submitted documentation; make recommendations regarding leave approvals and track leaves to ensure proper documentation is received, updated and on file accordingly.
  • Supports and assists activities related to HR such as talent management, processing personnel actions, electronic requisitions, drafting correspondence, processing files, records, and reports, entering data in HRCMS, Interview Exchange, Banner and other applications as needed.
  • Cross-trains in other HR functions in order to provide support and/or backup when necessary.
  • Conducts ad hoc projects by collecting information, conferring with internal and/or external stakeholders, analyzing data and making reports/recommendations as appropriate.
  • Create, generate and update reports regarding Human Resources information by assembling data from stand-alone databases, the state's information data warehouse and paper records to respond to requests for human resources information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience to successfully perform the essentials of the job.
  • Five years of Human Resources or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage competing time-sensitive priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a high-volume environment, and under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to represent HR in a positive engaging manner.
  • Ability to be a collaborative HR professional and team player.
  • Ability to balance the needs of individual employees within the context of University policies, practices and operating principles.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and explain complex documents such as policy and procedure manuals, federal and state laws, and collective bargaining agreements.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in Human Resources, Payroll or in a Higher Education setting.

Hours: 37.5

Salary: $72, 258 - $90,324 annually based on education and experience

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
