NOTE: This is an in-person teaching assignment within the OC Jail System. You will be required to pass background checks with the OC Sheriff's Department.

Position Details: We need morning and daytime availability.

SUBJECT: PARENTING

Provides instruction and discussion on the following components: Provides parents with an overview of child development milestones. Includes varied strategies for problem solving, effective communication, positive discipline and child-centered activities. Raises awareness of substance abuse, gangs, suicide, and peer pressure. Encourages parents to take an active role to ensure the academic success, health and safety, and social well-being of their children. Open Entry/Open Exit.

This is a "Continuous" recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Applications will remain in the pool for six (6) months. The division dean or department chair will contact the applicants should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please do not call the Office of People & Culture regarding the status of your application.

Program Description

This position will provide instruction to our student inmate program. This position requires working directly with student inmates at off-campus locations in various correctional facilities throughout Orange County. In addition, a background/security clearance with the Orange County Sheriff's Department will be required after completing RSCCD's onboarding process.

Teach all assigned classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments unless excused according to Board Policy provisions. Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress. Assist in maintaining course outline for each assigned course. Be familiar with and observe the administrative regulations as they appear in the Faculty Handbook (flex calendar obligations, course overviews, etc). Participate in department committees and activities. Will teach a variety of courses/levels within the discipline/area of study.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Applicants must meet one of the following):

• Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development or early childhood education, educational psychology with a specialization in child development, elementary education, psychology, or family life studies; and two years of professional experience in early childhood programs or parenting education.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency preferred.
• A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.
