    • promoting excellence in student success,
    • engaging the community through meaningful partnerships, and
    • fostering a welcoming, diverse, and multicultural environment.

The Position
The Vice President of Student Affairs is a member of NOVA’s Administrative Council and reports directly to the President, serving as the College’s leader on all matters related to enrollment management and student services. The Vice President provides vision, leadership, and direction for student services at NOVA and is accountable for oversight of advising, athletics and campus recreation, enrollment management, financial aid, international students, records and registration, student financial stability and advocacy, student life and leadership, student rights and responsibilities, and veterans services. In so doing, the Vice President develops, leads, and manages the performance of a team and is responsible and accountable for all functional areas within the division of Student Affairs.

The Role
The Vice President leads a division in which (1) responsiveness to the needs of NOVA’s diverse student population is paramount and (2) a commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery is essential. This position ensures all Student Affairs programs at NOVA model the College’s values and mission, specifically through the advancement of the five pillars outlined in NOVA’s 2023–26 strategic plan, “Inspiring Excellence: A Bold Blueprint for Student Success” — access, retention, completion, transfer, and employment. In addition, the Vice President advocates for and supports a division that prioritizes evidence-based, data-informed decisions. Ultimately, this position is tasked with ensuring that student services demonstrate the institution’s commitment to a holistic culture of care, effective onboarding and service, equity in student outcomes, and student-centered professional practice as articulated in the Virginia Community College System’s “Opportunity 2027” strategic plan.

The Vice President works effectively with all members of NOVA’s Administrative Council to advance the College’s mission and achieve institutional, operational, and strategic goals. In all things, the Vice President acts in a manner that exemplifies innovation, inclusive excellence, clarity of communication, and equity-mindedness; demonstrates the highest integrity and discretion; and acts with sound judgment, balance, and perspective.
