Position Overview

The Director, Screening Portfolio Marketing will be responsible for setting the screening product portfolio commercial vision, which includes articulating a compelling and relevant strategic narrative to support its clinical value needed to drive customer adoption and utilization. To achieve this, the director will lead the early marketing commercialization strategy in close partnership with pipeline and commercial development functions. More specifically, this role will be responsible for translating upstream product strategy into commercially viable marketing requirements. This includes product positioning, segmentation, messaging, and targeting. Establishing an omnichannel marketing blueprint and promotional mix to include sales force tactics and tools, patient promotion opportunities, and initiatives utilizing the digital ecosystem will also be critical so that a valuable handoff to downstream marketing teams can occur.

This leadership position will also influence longer-term strategic development of any new screening products and establish the necessary marketing requirements to support the commercial strategy and launch execution. As a senior marketing leader, this individual must have a strong understanding of the market dynamics, competitive landscape, and future cancer screening trends.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate with Insights & Analytics leaders to analyze and incorporate key market and clinical trends, customer needs and segmentation, disease state insights, and competitive offerings for the development of the product's commercialization strategy.
  • Develop product and portfolio positioning, messaging, and brand marketing campaigns. Effective agency management is critical.
  • Create clear, effective, and integrated strategies, plans, and tactics for product launches including, but not limited to, market access planning, publication planning, content development, market development, customer engagement, customer experience, and lead generation.
  • Ensure comprehensive training of sales and managed care teams to train on positioning, key data/messages, competitive strategies/positioning, promotional tools, and programs.
  • Develop and manage commercial marketing budget for product lines in portfolio; ensure financial targets are accurately maintained.
  • Liaise directly and manage the relationships with various external groups to include current or prospective service vendors, advertising/creative agencies, medical communications, and societies/organizations.
  • Establish a clear and aligned communication plan that leverages clinical publications and relevant timing to execute subsequent promotional materials and direction for field sales.
  • Cultivate and grow a core group of thought leaders and drive participation in advisory boards and speaker development programs.
  • Collaborate with Medical, Regulatory and Legal teams to lead any review and approval of promotional materials needed to support product promotion.
  • Ensure vision, strategy, and organizational decisions are understood; delegate to other functions to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain professional, engaging, and customer focused communications with all internal and external audiences.
  • Share ideas and be receptive to new ideas when collaborating within and across departments.
  • Clear barriers to team progress and resolve conflicts within the team and outside the team.
  • Initial role is individual contributor. Identify supporting team of direct reports as business needs grow.

  • Strong analytical skills with scientific papers and market intelligence, with the ability to simplify and translate complex scientific data into a clear and compelling commercial strategy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate complex personnel issues, schedules, travel, and logistical projects and programs.
  • Ability to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality.

  • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • 10+ years of professional experience working in a team setting in the healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience in the diagnostic, biopharma, or medical device fields.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of market development and commercial launches for new products.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully market products in a highly competitive market.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • Experience working in a gastroenterology, women's health, obstetrics, and gynecology (OB-GYN), primary care sales, or commercial position.
  • Experience across both HCP and consumer marketing.
  • Experience in customer-facing sales leadership roles.

Salary Range:

$174,000.00 - $277,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
