This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to contribute to various projects within a collaborative environment at one of the nation’s leading law schools. As part of the Law School’s Marketing Communications team, the Marketing Communications Specialist will play a crucial role in marketing and communications efforts, with a specific focus on the Notre Dame Law School Religious Liberty Clinic, interdisciplinary programs, event marketing, and other diverse projects.

- Working closely with the Religious Liberty Clinic leadership, this role is instrumental in advancing the Clinic’s mission to promote and defend religious freedom for people of all faiths, both nationally and internationally. Key responsibilities include creating and producing content that effectively communicates the Religious Liberty Clinic’s unique value, identifying target audiences, and managing the distribution channels for those messages.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to support the Religious Liberty Clinic’s broader goals, defining communications objectives, identifying key stakeholder audiences.
- Identify story ideas and write original content in various formats for websites, social media, newsletters, brochures, and videos.
- Work closely with the Religious Liberty Clinic’s public relations firm to align communication efforts.
- Design and produce newsletters and marketing materials for the Law School’s interdisciplinary programs.
- Write articles highlighting the Law School’s interdisciplinary and other program initiatives and activities for the website and social media.
- Regularly meet with faculty, staff, students, and the Law School’s marketing communications director to ensure targeted and effective communication.
Event Marketing:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to boost awareness and attendance for the Law School’s various events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create event materials, including digital signage, email graphics, banners, program books, and other graphics.
- Manage event-related communications, including press releases or stories, email campaigns, internal communications, and social media posts.
- Oversee and collaborate with external freelancers on event promotion, design, and photography. Some design work will be done in-house, while other tasks will be outsourced.
- Promote awareness and attendance for RLC events, particularly the annual Notre Dame Religious Liberty Summit each summer.
Other Communications and Administrative Support:
- Assist with the creation and distribution of the internal weekly newsletter, as well as other clinic stories and projects as needed by the team.
- Handle administrative tasks including paying vendors and tracking social media hits.
Minimum Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have at least 4+ years of experience working in a marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
- Excellent writer capable of crafting accurate and compelling copy across various platforms, including news stories, website content, social media posts, newsletters, annual reports, and event materials.
- Excellent editor, proofreader with keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in AP Style.
- Strong project management skills and experience in executing marketing campaigns are essential, along with a solid understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Other preferred qualifications include experience in graphic design (InDesign or Canva), knowledge of video editing and photography, as well as previous work with mission-driven organizations.
- Essential soft skills for this position include a respect for the role of religion in society, openness to innovative ideas and processes, and a collaborative mindset. This position will frequently collaborate with faculty, staff, and students, as well as the Law School events team, freelance photographers/videographers, and graphic designers to ensure the success of key Law School initiatives and the overall mission.
