Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Residential Life for Summer and Integrated Learning
Communities leads Student Life at Rose Hill’s campus-wide effort to integrate the
academic, mission and ministry, and student life enterprises across 7 integrated
learning communities (ILCs) and one new residential summer program for high
school students.
The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of
Residential Life at Rose Hill and coordinates closely with colleagues in the
Division of Students Affairs with roles in integrated learning.
Essential Functions
∙ Designs, builds, leads, evaluates, and continuously improves Fordham’s
pilot summer pre-college program for high school students, launching
June 2023;
∙ Works closely with the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean of
Students/Director of Residential Life and other colleagues overseeing and
participating in the pre-college program;
∙ Leads and trains a team of 3 full time Resident Directors for which the high
school summer pipeline program is a summer assignment and who in turn
recruit, train, and lead the 10 undergraduate program counselors;
∙ Working with the Residential Life and Student Life staff, develops summer
pre-college student handbook and policies, including reporting procedures
specific to the pre-college population;
∙ Coordinates contact on non-academic program elements with parents and
potential students during the recruitment and marketing process beginning
November 2023;
∙ Coordinates with Admissions, Summer Session, and other staff in
developing and updating the summer residential program website;
∙ Serves as liaison to Admissions, Summer Session, and other areas
contributing to the Summer Pipeline program;
∙ Oversees the several Integrated Learning Communities ranging from first
year hall programs to specialized upper-class programs, assessing and
evaluating each program against learning outcomes with academic and
mission integration-based partners and sharing outcomes data with the
Assistant Dean/Director, Dean of Students, and partners on an ongoing
basis;
∙ Serves as liaison to the colleges and mission integration for Integrated
Learning Communities;
∙ Coordinates contact and periodic meetings and activities of supervisory
groups for each ILC composed of colleagues with roles in each
community;
∙ Develops and continuously updates and improves published documents
communicating and marketing the integrated learning communities (ILCs)
and residential summer program for high school students;
∙ Participates in on-call duty rotation to support the Resident Director on
Duty along with other assistant directors;
∙ Serves as part of an 18-person Residential Life professional staff
supporting major office processes led by the Assistant Dean such as
opening, closing, staff selection and Training as well as large-scale and
campus-wide University events and major programs.
∙ Must be on-campus during the summer time frame of the Summer
Leadership program.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
∙ Bachelor’s degree
∙ Education and experience should be related to position responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
∙ 2+ years of experience in the area of residential life, housing, residential
education, and/or secondary education.
∙ Possesses strong interpersonal communication skills and experience in
curricular and program development, teaching and/or training, program
development and implementation and supervision.
∙ Working knowledge of computer working environments such as Google
and Microsoft.
∙ Demonstrates creativity and flexibility in working on various projects with a
variety of constituent groups, including parents.
∙ Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the
goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
∙ Master’s degree in Secondary or Higher Education and/or Student
Personnel Administration, Counseling or related area.
Minimum Starting Salary$58,000 (plus room and board)
Maximum Starting Salary$62,000 (plus room and board)
NoteSalary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
