Cancer Pathways is looking for a Health Educator to present our Cancer Happens® Education Program to middle and high school students during the 2023-2024 school year. The health educator will be presenting in-person at schools in King and Skagit County and surrounding areas. The health educator is expected to first complete a short, virtual training session with the Cancer Happens Program Manager.

This is a contract position with an hourly rate, not to exceed 15 hours per week. Training will be held remotely, and all marketing and scheduling of presentations will be provided by Cancer Pathways. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual seeking part-time, meaningful work experience.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Present Cancer Happens® to high school and middle school students via in-person and virtual presentations
  • Keep in communication with Cancer Pathways to stay current on cancer-related issues
  • Data collection via student and teacher surveys
  • Refer students and teachers to appropriate support resources and volunteering opportunities at Cancer Pathways
  • Provide program feedback including FAQs/comments presented by students and teachers to the Program Director

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with teens
  • A background in public health, communications, education, social work, health sciences or medically related fields is preferred
  • 1-2 days of availability, Monday-Friday, during school hours (8:00 am – 3:00 pm)
  • A business license in one’s residing city is required at time of hire
  • Must pass a background check
