  • 2x Full-time, Continuing positions
  • Remuneration at Academic Level C ($129,297- $149,093) or Level D ($155,691 - $171,521) + 17% Superannuation
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus.

About the Role
The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research of the school in the field of applied environmental sciences. You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs, both undergraduate and post graduate and to be actively involved in research, consulting, and other professional activities.

As an Associate Professor, you will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research efforts of the field of applied environmental science, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial, and industrial sectors.

The team has a strong applied green chemistry base, and we are seeking to broaden our disciplinary capability, bringing new expertise that is complementary to our growing team. You will bring expertise and leadership to address complex environmental issues, spanning areas such as climate change, water science, natural resource management, disturbed landscape analysis, contamination and pollution assessment and control, biodiversity conservation, and sustainability.

Both levels may have responsibility for program management.

About You
To be successful for level C appointment, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.
  • Ability to manage a large program or a number of small programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.
  • Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.

In addition to the above, to be successful for level D appointment you will have:

  • Nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets and emerging international recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead scholarly development and manage and supervise academic teams and members.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a University.

Qualifications for Level C & D
Mandatory: PhD in relevant field of Environmental Science

About the School
The School of Science delivers excellence in applied research and education, engaging in strong impactful industry partnerships and producing skilled, industry-ready graduates.

The School has a diverse research portfolio across science and mathematics with international research excellence in quantum science technologies, advanced materials chemistry and catalysis solutions and in water science, systems and sustainability; in addition to emerging strengths in geospatial technologies, mathematics and future food technologies. Annual research income for the School is around $20 million and the School has just under 400 Higher Degree by Research students.

The School delivers high-quality applied, authentic and active industry-engaged education and teaching to over 2,600 undergraduate- and postgraduate-taught students across 10 ongoing undergraduate and 8 postgraduate programs, in addition to offshore partnerships and delivery, including in China and Vietnam.
