The Opportunity

The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one, non-tenure earning, 9-month instructor or lecturer position. Candidates with expertise related to core courses comprising the Health Sciences curriculum (UCF Undergraduate Catalog – Department of Health Sciences) are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Health Sciences is home to 15 full-time faculty and approximately 3600 undergraduate students in the major and about 400 students in the minor. We offer an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences with two tracks – Pre-Clinical and Health Promotion. The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Teach undergraduate courses and potentially graduate courses.

• Demonstrate high-quality course delivery while integrating student learning and engagement.

• Mentor students while providing them with sound advice for professional development.

• Participate in internal and external professional service activities while demonstrating collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

The teaching load for this position is 4/4.  This position is assigned to the main Orlando Campus and the expected start date is Fall 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned master’s degree (for an instructor) or terminal degree (for a lecturer) from an accredited institution. 

• Demonstrated teaching experience and effectiveness as the instructor of record at an institution of higher education for courses similar to one or more courses comprising UCF’s Health Sciences core curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A doctorate, Ph.D. or equivalent, in a healthcare profession, occupational health and safety, or closely related area of study.

• Healthcare practitioner holding a valid Florida license to practice.

• Direct patient care experience in a hospital or skilled care setting.

• Experience conducting patient and employee safety trainings in healthcare settings.

• Certified professional in-patient safety and/or OSHA certification in personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogens, and/or radiation safety is desirable.
