Job Description


A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Division of Earth and Climate Sciences, NSOE, Duke University. The successful applicant will work on EPA-USDA Forest Service-funded projects to assess cumulative effects of wildfires on water quality and quantity over the United States. The position is based in Durham NC; The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 3 years pending on satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Primary qualifications:

·       PhD from an accredited college or university in Atmospheric/Climate/Earth Science, Hydrology, Watershed Science, Environmental Science/Engineering, Physical Geography, or related field.

·       One to three (1-3) years of research experience of numerical and/or machine learning models; analyzing models output on hydrology and water quality; presenting scientific results to scientific and general audiences; writing reports and manuscripts for scientific publications.

·       Strong foundation in hydrological modeling and analytical skills of fire induced water   quality and quantity changes

·       Ability to conduct research and work collaboratively with colleagues.

The ideal start time for this position is Fall 2023, but the position will remain open until filled.
