Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Assistant Director HR/Payroll Shared Services for department of University Human Resources. The Assistant Director HR/Payroll Service is a key position within the leadership team of Rutgers Faculty and Staff Service Center, a customer focused service organization that provides HR and Payroll services to employees across the university. The Assistant Director of Service Center Operations will work closely with other service center leaders to set, monitor, and review service center strategic direction and integrated planning process. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for portfolio expansion and reporting and analytics to support the growth and development of the Service Center. The position serves as a direct supervisor to the OneSource leadership team (HR/Payroll Shared Service Managers, Leave Administration Manager, Benefits Enrollment Manager and Strategy Team Manager) and is ultimately responsible for their performance.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Creates a strategic direction that supports Shared Services Center’s vision, development, sustainability, and growth.
  • Leverages technology to increase quality, dive efficiencies and decrease costs across all the services that OneSource Shared Service Center provides.
  • Increases positive university-wide impact of the Shared Services Center.
  • Increase and maintain a high customer satisfaction across all the services that OneSource Shared Service Center provides.
  • Develops a strong business case with reports and analysis to support OneSource Shared Service Center initiatives.
  • Successfully transition additional services and customers into the OneSource Shared Service Center.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of OneSource Operations’ recruiting, training, and employee development activities, and leads development and monitoring of all key performance indicators established for OneSource and employee self-service functionality.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of progressive experience working in an HR/Payroll Environment.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Proven track record implementing change across a team to improve quality and performance.
  • Proven track record operating in a unionized environment.
  • Proven track record managing a team that specializes in any of the following areas:
    • Call Center.
    • Health and Welfare Benefit Administration.
    • Pension Administration (Defined Benefit and/or Defined Contribution).
    • Leave Administration.
    • HRIS Administration.
    • ServiceNow Development.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Team leadership.
    • Employee development and training.
    • Customer account and service management.
    • KPI design and analytics.
    • Case management system design, development, and configuration.
    • Knowledge management design, development, and configuration.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Performance management, analytics, and clear communication of results.
    • Ability to resolve a broad scope of issues from both technical and account management perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of increasing responsibility managing a team in a shared services environment focused on delivering transactional HR and Payroll services to a large, complex, organization.

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
