Posting Summary
The Rutgers School of Business–Camden (RSBC) is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications to join the school’s recruiting team. This role will oversee the various marketing and recruiting activities for all undergraduate and graduate programs offered by RSBC, as well as new programs. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Administration, this position will lead, strategize, manage, develop, and execute marketing strategies and advertising campaigns to promote these programs, as well as oversee web and digital content, with goals of driving engagement and increasing the interest of prospective students.
The role will be responsible for helping to craft the overarching marketing plans for RSBC, ensuring an appropriate mix of traditional marketing and social media within the marketing strategies and campaigns, developing social media campaigns, as well as carrying out the execution of the marketing strategy for paid advertising and organic social media daily. Further, the Assistant Director will track and monitor trends to ensure the distribution of marketing across outlets and programs. This position is seen as a critical component for strengthening the unit’s overarching marketing campaign to help generate revenue growth and consistent branding and visibility for RSBC.
In addition to the development of the marketing campaigns, the Assistant Director will be responsible for RSBC’s brand management. This includes monitoring the use of the Brand Identity Guidelines, managing the content in marketing collateral and on the website, and facilitating communication and outreach to our alumni, corporate partners, and the community at large.
The position is responsible for supporting the growth of enrollment for all RSBC degree programs. The individual in this role will work closely with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, the Director of Operations and Administration, other members of RSBC’s staff/administration, as well as the Rutgers University-Camden Admissions and Marketing and Communication teams, and third parties to elevate the School’s presence via all marketing outlets to grow enrollment.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, editing, proofreading, publishing, marketing, organizational coordination, and/or facilitation.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a communications, editorial, or marketing role.
  • Must be knowledgeable of current social media and interactive management systems. Requires relevant experience in an administrative function, social media platform proficiency, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to communicate and work effectively and efficiently with diverse groups within RSBC and Rutgers–Camden, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
  • Ability to lead groups and be decisive.
  • Collaborative skills to accept and incorporate ideas into strategies.
  • Time management and organization in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize trends and stay ahead of them.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and maintaining website content and the latest trends and best practices in content strategy and user experience design.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, such as Drupal or WordPress for publishing and managing web content.
  • Understanding of user experience design principles and the ability to design user experiences that are optimized for user engagement and conversion.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Experience with analytics tools, such as Google Analytics 4.
  • Ability to analyze data to measure effectiveness and make recommendations to optimize content.
  • Superior writing and editing skills.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Self-motivated go-getter with a positive attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to “roll up sleeves” and execute program deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of relevant experience as a marketing/communications professional at an institution of higher education.
  • Digital advertising experience, including Google Adwords and geo-targeted ads, preferred. Experience with Salesforce is also a plus.
Equipment Utilized
The position requires proficiency with and seamless navigation of all current social media platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Google Adwords, YouTube, etc. Applicants should also be familiar with content management systems (e.g., Drupal or WordPress, and Elementor).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Position may be required to work evenings and weekends upon occasion. Candidates are also asked to be willing to use a personal car for work travel.
