Description:
The Irwin Neuroengineering Lab has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Our group investigates the neural mechanisms behind both normal and pathological movements in humans, using invasive neural recording and stimulation during real-time behavioral tasks. Responsibilities of the position include designing and conducting intraoperative experiments and analyzing the resulting electrophysiological and behavioral data using a variety of computational techniques. Development of independent research directions and funding will be encouraged and supported.
Requirements:
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in a related field (neural engineering, neuroscience, biomedical or electrical engineering, computer science, etc.). Proficiency in Matlab or similar computational programming language is required. Prior experience in neuroengineering/brain-machine interface research and/or electrophysiology is a bonus but not required.
