The Institute for Earth, Computing, Human and Observing (ECHO) at Chapman University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow on microwave remote sensing. This postdoctoral position funded by NASA is available immediately for highly motivated individuals to join an interdisciplinary research team in ECHO at Chapman University and the successful candidate may begin in June.

Qualifications
A qualified applicant should have experience in satellite data processing and applications with programming skills. Applicants must hold a conferred doctoral or equivalent degree in atmospheric sciences, ocean sciences, physics, remote sensing, or related fields before the start date of the appointment.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on instruments calibration and retrieval algorithms of spaceborne microwave radiometers for sea surface salinity, soil moisture, and sea ice and will analyze remote sensing data to infer the physical properties of oceans and the cryosphere and their interactions (e.g., the influence of ice melt on ocean salinity), and other duties as assigned.

The position is initially a one-year appointment and if funding allows, may potentially be renewed. Evaluation of applications will begin on April 24, 2023. The position will be available from June 1, 2023, and will remain open until filled. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. This position is subject to final budget approval. The salary range for this Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is $64,500.
