Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position coordinates all program and academic activities in support of the Director, faculty and students in the Architecture (ARCH) Program. The position is responsible for coordinating initiatives for the ARCH Graduate program and the two tracks in the ARCH Undergraduate programs which are the largest in the School. The position coordinates the academic and student activities for the program, communicates with students, maintains student academic information, analyses information and provides timely feedback to the Director in support of academic decisions.

The position works directly with the Program Director, advising on budgeting and spending for Clinical and PTK/Adjunct faculty hires, Graduate Assistantship hires and guest lectures. The position is responsible for faculty contracts, travel, grad assistants hiring and faculty searches.

The position works directly with the program director to manage the ARCH Foundation Budget and advises on allocation of funds for Scholarships, Fellowships, Travel Abroad, Recruitment, Lectures, Professorships, awards, etc. Monitors accounts for compliance with donor intentions and balancing spending budget and priorities.

The position coordinates special events (lectures, conferences, symposia, colloquia, graduation/commencement, meetings), having responsibility for all logistical details associated with those activities.

The Program Coordinator also serves as a liaison between the programs and internal MAPP+D partners, i.e., Student Services, Communications, IT, the Office of the Dean and other School committees; serves as a liaison to external partners – University Administration, the Graduate School, government agencies, non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for student administration, admission and recruitment which includes the management of student records, preparation of materials associated with admissions, graduation, class registration, advising, student databases, academic petitions, new student orientation, student awards, scholarships, fellowships and graduate and teaching assistantships; maintains student academic information; coordinates program events; analyses information for the Director in support of academic decisions.

Initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, confidentiality and good problem solving skills are required to accomplish a broad range of academic and general responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
2-4 years, of experience, preferably in an academic environment, is desired. Familiarity with UMD administrative systems, policies, and procedures is desired

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credit being equivalent to one year of experience.

Additional Information:

Salary range: up to $60,000.
