Job Description

The Early Childhood Instructor-Program Recruitment & Success Coach will be responsible to coordinate recruiting efforts for the early childhood programs and serve as the main point of contact for an assigned group of students to guide them to achieve academic success. This position will teach a reduced load, determined by the dean as part of the Early Childhood Instructional Team.

  • As the EC (Early Childhood) Recruiter, the duties will include recruiting for high school concurrent enrollment programs (CCP), for traditional/non-traditional students and apprenticeship opportunities for Early Childhood.
  • As the EC Success Coach, the duties will be to counsel, motivate, assess student needs, goals, and interests, and review prior academic experience. Coaches will use and review predictive analytical data to provide targeted outreach efforts to students who fall into an at-risk category. Coaches will provide a high level of customer service support and ensure students are made aware of all available college resources to assist them in achieving academic success.

As an instructor in the Early Childhood programs, the primary purpose will be to sustain teaching performance at appropriate college levels for all assigned student populations (including qualified high school students) to include course loads, instructional technology, instructional materials and innovative communication delivery in the Early Childhood discipline.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and implement a comprehensive, innovative recruiting program for the Early Childhood programs aimed at attracting the maximum number of students from the College’s service area who may benefit from the programs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive prospect list and will have ongoing follow up with these prospective students.
  • Coordinate with the college recruiter for admissions processes and procedures for all Early Childhood high school students enrolling at the College under Career and College Promise.
  • Conduct regular recruiting visits to area schools (public, private, home, etc.) and other industry/community sites as appropriate.
  • Attend community events/activities as appropriate.
  • Represent the Early Childhood program at all recruiting events and work closely with the College Recruiter to facilitate recruiting events targeted for Early Childhood programs.
  • Work with Early Childhood faculty in regards to retention initiatives for the Early Childhood programs.
  • Provide proactive and individualized career counseling and success coaching to a student caseload facilitated by an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics.
  • Identify and provide proactive outreach to at risk students connecting them to intentional intervention and student support activities.
  • Use Predictive Analytics to identify barriers to success, persistence, and completion and create individualized Student Action Plans.
  • Design high-tech, high-touch supports utilizing Watermark
  • Empower caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services and become better connected to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services, disability services and community resources.
  • Maintain mastery and currency in the fields of Early Childhood discipline, participating in ongoing collaboration with other professionals to ensure continuity between course instruction and school practices.
  • Perform record keeping function in the areas of recruiting, coaching, course attendance, student learning outcomes, and student performance assessment in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule which may include some evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Availability to meet students at any campus location.
  • Assist with documentation needed for the Early Childhood Dogwood Health Grant
  • Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.

Additionally

  • Participate in a wide variety of extra-curricula committee and campus support functions, which may include: faculty club advisor, scholarships, grants, campus marketing, accreditation, inter-institutional and system cooperative programs.
  • Assist Early Childhood faculty with program planning and support of Institutional Effectiveness and Program Assessments Plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Master's degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely-related discipline. (Instructor must demonstrate 18 hours of Early Childhood course work or related areas at the Masters level.)

Experience

All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment.

Skills and the Know-How

The ideal person will possess current knowledge of Early Childhood and related fields, strong personal and professional integrity, good interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. They will demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.

Pay: $4,965.00 - $5,886.00 per month
