Job Description

We are currently interviewing for school support staff to work on assignment in KCSD in the following areas: Special Education Paraeducators, English Language Development (ELD) Paraeducators, and Regular Education Instructional Assistants (IA).


OPEN VACANCIES:

Regular Education IA:

  • Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center: Monday through Friday from 8:15am-3:45pm

  • Bancroft Elementary School: Monday through Friday from 8:15am-3:45pm

  • Greenwood Elementary School: Monday through Friday from 8:15am-3:45pm


The Regular Education Instructional Assistant (IA) position works with teachers to support daily instruction and literacy-based activities. Position works directly with students, teachers and school staff to perform all duties with accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism. Must have the ability to relate effectively with students, staff and the public.


Special Education Paraeducator:

  • Kennett Middle School: Monday through Friday from 7:10am-2:40pm


The Special Education Paraeducator works with students who have complex disabilities and unique needs such as autism, sensory disabilities, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and students with physical disabilities. Also, monitors student progress and implements classroom management programs.


ELD Paraeducator:

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish - preferred
  • Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center: Monday through Friday, 8:15am - 3:45pm

  • New Garden Elementary School: Monday through Friday, 8:15am - 3:45pm

  • Kennett High School: Monday through Friday, 7:15am - 2:45pm


The ELD Paraeducator enhances the ELD program by supporting and working with students and school staff to perform all duties with accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. ELD Paraeducator coordinates with teacher to deliver content instruction. Will coordinate with the ELD and content area teachers in the delivery of English language and content instruction. This position supports ELD students in the acculturation process and assists with translation and interpretation materials.


QUALIFICATION:

  • Two-years of post-secondary education (48 credits) or an Associates degree


PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting

  • Bilingual speaking skills in Spanish / English

  • Must have the ability to relate effectively with students, staff and public


CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS:

(Clearances and TB current within 12 months)

  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance

  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance

  • PA Department of Education FBI - Use code: 1KG6XN

  • TB Screening

  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts

The hourly pay rate for a Paraeducator and Instructional Assistant is $18.00/hour (W2 Employee)
