Overview

A Post-Doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Keith Ligon in the fields of human precision medicine and cancer cell resistance. The position will involve the study of cancer cell biology, brain tumors, and neuroscience and will lead to significant experience in a wide range of techniques such as functional genomics and CRISPR methods in human cells and models, tissue biomarker analysis, genomics studies, stem cell culture, mouse transgenic models, development of high throughput screening models, and specialized neuroscience techniques.

Responsibilities

Developing independence will be fostered, and opportunities for intellectual input will also be readily available although performance of some basic laboratory duties will be required. The Ligon lab environment is highly collaborative and there will be opportunities to interact with multiple individuals in translational and basic science collaborations with other principal investigator labs and postdocs are also will have joint appointments at Broad Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Candidates will have excellent mentoring and training for academia and industry through projects in the lab and with external collaborators at the national and international level.

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, or doctoral equivalent in biosciences, bioengineering, or a closely related field is required
  • A minimum 2-year commitment is also required.
  • Prior experience in laboratory research is required.
  • Interest or skills in applying bioinformatics methods is desired.
