Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Established in 1971 as a comprehensive community college, RCC serves the residents of Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland counties with quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities.


The college registrar will manage all activities of the Admissions and Records team as they provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Ensures convenient, efficient and effective admission to the College, course registration, graduation and academic record keeping for all students. Works with teams of faculty, administration, staff and students to ensure successful processes, procedures and training.
Duties include, but are not limited to: student records management, student admissions and enrollment, review of domicile appeals, FERPA compliance, transcript and credit for prior learning (CPL) evaluation, maintenance of the Transfer Virginia Portal, and certification of graduates. This position also ensures compliance with college, state, and Federal policies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge of admissions and records functions, including registration, admission, record retention, degree and graduation programs, academic processes, and grading schemes. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to student records.
  • Proficient with databases, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must possess technology skills with a strong understanding of the records functionality of the online student information system (PeopleSoft), digital imaging for student records, and an ability to learn new technologies as they become available.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a secondary school or college environment. Supervisory experience. Experience with Navigate software.
