The Department for Early Years and Primary Education has an exciting opportunity for a Primary and Early Years specialist to join our team as a Senior Lecturer. We are a well-established, supportive, friendly team who are fully committed to striving for excellence and aim to provide outstanding student experiences at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have developed a shared vision for educational excellence with our partner schools and our courses reflect our commitment to partnership working and training the next generation of primary teachers.

As a Senior Lecturer you will need to be highly motivated, well organised and passionate about delivering exceptional evidence-based teaching. You will have up to date and relevant subject knowledge in Primary and Early Years Education evidenced through qualifications and prior teaching experience covering both EYFS and the Primary National Curriculum. You will have real energy and passion for education; this will be demonstrated through your developing research interests and your network connections. You will develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which foster enthusiasm, understanding and critical enquiry amongst undergraduate and postgraduate trainee teachers.

The role includes working on ITE courses, Postgraduate routes and providing professional development. You must be able to work closely with colleagues in partner schools to establish and maintain links which ensure strong theory to practice connections. Providing pastoral support and enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University is essential to your role. You will be supported to develop research, enterprise and scholarly activities which are integral to the post.

Applicants must hold a first degree and have QTS. Experience of teaching in primary schools is essential and prior experience of working in Initial Teacher Training is desirable. A higher degree would be desirable to fulfil the requirements of this post.
