Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. The Network Engineer III, is responsible for programming, analyzing, upgrading, managing, monitoring, and expanding EDF Renewable Energy's network infrastructure, servers, software performance, desktop systems, and communications devices related to network/SCADA operations located throughout North America, Mexico, and Canada. These operations include corporate offices, datacenters, and wind and solar power generation plants owned and/or managed by EDF Renewable Energy. Other responsibilities include infrastructure installation and operations at all operations centers, working collaboratively with other departments and IT team members as well as other technical contributors. The Network Engineer will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of EDF Renewable Energy IT operations compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines such as NERC and FERC

Responsibilities

30% - Performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards, ticketing system problem queue entry and closure, and interface applications. Provides Tier II support for end-users.

25% - Monitors and maintains the hardware and software for the network infrastructure, QoS and Routing protocol compatibility, performs system tuning, and makes recommendations for improvements. Monitors and maintains network circuits and system capacities, monitors network traffic patterns.

25% - Assists in the installation of network infrastructure, standardization, and plans/designs LAN, WAN, Firewall, VPN, Security, Satellite, and wireless solutions for all EDF locations. Works with telecommunications carriers for installation and troubleshooting circuits. Monitors and maintains VoIP infrastructure. On time accurate delivery: Ensuring that your assigned processes/procedures/projects are executed on time and with active and punctual delivery. Manage vendor service level agreements (SLAs) for compliance.

15% - Participate in the creation, implementation and continual improvement of standards, processes and procedures required to deliver high quality customer service. Follow Change Management procedures related to system upgrades and patch management. Adhere to Change Management process on routine changes. Upgrades network hardware and software and maintains established standards. Coordinates and applies network and server patches and fixes. Generate and maintain infrastructure documentation including network designs, addressing schemes and version management and maintain document portal and documentation standards.

05% - Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.

Qualifications

Education/Experience -

    Requires minimum 5 years proven work experience implementing technology in a large, multi-site corporate environment and a proven ability to solve complex technical problems and issues.
  • Minimum 3 years proven work experience implementing, administrating, supporting, and maintaining networking systems.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities -

  • This position requires operational working knowledge of networking infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, VPN solutions, border connection devices and security. Additional responsibilities would include monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and security best practices.
  • Knowledge of capacity and resource planning and associated tools, network risk assessment, and contingency planning such as LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, and ForeScout.
  • Knowledge of network security policies and procedures, penetration testing, and methods of auditing. Strong incident management skills.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and implement IOS software patches or hardware changes as needed either manually or via automated "push" technology

  • Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge with fundamental workings of the OSI layer.
  • Technical/operational level understanding of carrier-based services (Fiber, Ethernet, MPLS, DS1, and VPN) and direct experience troubleshooting circuits.
  • Implementers knowledge level of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Implementers knowledge of AAA, HSRP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS.
  • Implementers Knowledge of the following technologies and protocols: VPN/SSL VPN, General Network Design, General Network Security, TCP/IP, OSI model, network topology and design considerations including LAN/WAN technologies such as MPLS.
  • Implementers knowledge level of Cisco Routers and Switching
  • Thorough understanding of VLAN and spanning-tree technologies.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Technical/operational knowledge of AWS networking constructs, including (but not limited to): VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, PrivateLink, Route Tables, IAM, WAF, Route53, NLB, ALB
  • Technical/operational knowledge level of Cisco Firepower/ASA, Palo Alto, FortiGate
  • Technical/operational knowledge of Monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, Solar Winds, NetBox, Cisco ISE, Panorama, DNA Center, FortiManager.
  • Technical/operational knowledge of Cisco WLC / Wireless technologies.
  • Technical/Operational understanding of real time data collection and supervisory control systems (SCADA) and data center operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to be productive and produce quality results in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic and time management skills, ability to work well independently and as part of a team, good prioritization skills, excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with peers and cross-functional team members from a variety of business functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be productive and produce quality results in a dynamic work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance issues related to managing co-locations.
  • On call after hours is necessary for problem resolution, and project management/installations

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires occasional physical demands. These are generally related to the lifting and installation of various networking components in data centers, telecom rooms, remote offices, and field sites. Field generation sites have certain safety requirements around training, access and protective clothing that must be strictly followed.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds.

This role's Target annual base salary range is between $110,000 and $135,000.
