Responsibilities:

The Associate Director, Graduate Business Career Development (Consulting Career Coach) will advise students in the MBA program regarding career development and job search strategies related to their backgrounds and career goals. They will provide industry experience and expertise in advising students who want to pursue careers in Consulting and Corporate Strategy.

The Associate Director works with the Consulting Club, faculty, and alumni in the Consulting sector. In addition, they will teach a required course in Career Leadership and help develop career skills, including interviewing, networking, and positioning.

This position will be responsible for customer relationship management of select corporate partners in the Consulting space and will advise the Mendoza Experiential Learning team regarding student programming for the Consulting Career . They will assist the office in enhancing student career support and interactions with students, alumni, faculty, and recruiters.

Detailed responsibilities include:

Coaching and Mentoring
  • Provide assistance to student job seekers in groups and one-on-one; assistance includes resume reviews, discernment of strengths and weaknesses, discernment of ideal career paths, mock interviewing, networking advice, cover letter reviews, coaching of candidates through the recruitment process, salary negotiation advice and social media alignment with career goals

Employer Business Development
  • Responsible for supporting Employer Relations team’s business development initiatives by identifying recruiting opportunities and developing employer/recruiter relationships with a specific focus on Consulting career pathway employers
  • Partner with Employer Relations team to manage relationships and deepen interactions with top Consulting Pathway recruiters/employers

Help prepare and teach Career Leadership courses for the MBA program and conduct workshops on career development and career skills

Work with Consulting Club and other student groups to help students gain industry knowledge, contacts, job search skills, and confidence. This includes oversight of the peer-to-peer interview prep program.

Other Duties:
  • Supervise the daily implementation of work priorities across both student and employer events and programs
  • Assist Director of Coaching & Development and Career Development team as needed on a variety of projects
  • Manage assigned budget
  • Follow all University policies and procedures
  • Provide statistics in line with MBA CSEA standards on employment and job search status for each program on a regular basis
  • Assist Admissions and cross-functional staff partners as required at recruiting events, alumni events, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree/advanced certification beyond Bachelor’s
  • 5 to 6 years of relevant experience
  • Professional business experience in Consulting industry required (or similar coaching role at a top university), with in-depth knowledge of Consulting space and hiring landscape
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights into impactful strategies
  • Hiring and/or coaching/facilitation experience required
  • Proven ability to effectively build, develop and manage cross-functional relationships internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Coaching certification preferred
