Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Real Estate Development Paralegal or Transaction Coordinator to join our legal and transactions team. As a Real Estate Development Paralegal, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our legal department, capital markets department and development and construction departments in all aspects of real estate development projects. You will work closely with attorneys and other professionals to ensure the smooth execution of real estate transactions, from initial due diligence through land and construction loan closing and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for real estate transactions to contribute to impactful projects and grow within our organization.

With a Hybrid Remote work setup, applicants should reside within commuting distance of one of our corporate offices in San Diego, CA or Irving, TX.

Education/Certificates

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association or any applicable state codes.

  • Paralegal certification is a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years directly relevant development paralegal or equivalent real estate development experience.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proven experience working as a paralegal or equivalent role in a real estate law firm, corporate legal department, or real estate development company.

  • Strong understanding of real estate development processes, including land acquisitions and financing transactions.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. Must be capable of working with executives, peers, lenders and investors, outside advisors and others throughout the organization.

  • Demonstrated and effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office Excel) are required. Apply technology as part of enhanced process management capabilities.

  • Must have strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, extreme attention to detail, and be goal oriented.

  • Person should be proactive and take initiative to improve efficiencies in assigned tasks.

  • Ability to work under limited supervision

Essential Duties

  • Assist with due diligence on real estate properties, including coordinating title searches, zoning research, environmental assessments, and other relevant investigations.

  • Assist in the drafting and review of legal documents such as purchase agreements, leases, easements, development agreements, and financing documents.

  • Facilitate the closing process for real estate transactions, including preparing closing checklists, reviewing closing documents, coordinating signings, and managing post-closing deliverables.

  • Coordinate and manage communication with clients, external counsel, government agencies, title companies and other stakeholders involved in real estate transactions.

  • Facilitate formation of corporate entities and draft organizational documents.

  • Assist with debt financing transactions, including construction loans and loan modifications/extension closings.

  • Organize and maintain real estate transaction files and legal department records, ensuring all documentation is accurately recorded and easily accessible.

  • Monitor project timelines and deadlines to ensure that critical milestones are met.

  • Provide general administrative support to the legal department as needed.

  • Support other departments in the preparation of various types of corporate documentation, including resolutions, officer certificates, and production of records and reports to support regulatory and tax filings, internal and external audits, corporate transactions, and treasury banking and KYC requirements.

  • Liaise with outside counsel and registered agents.

  • Complete company required training by established deadlines.

  • Comply with all Fairfield standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state and federal laws.

  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.

Estimated Rate of Pay:

$95,000.00 - $105,000.00

The range above reflects annual base salary.

The pay range displayed for this position is determined by skills and experience required, location and job complexity*. Potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, and experience an individual candidate holds. This range reflects base rate only, and does not include allowances, perks, commissions or bonuses applicable to this position (if any).
