We are seeking a Senior Water Resources/Water Quality Project Manager to join our team of Water Resources experts in San Diego, CA. This senior position is a seller-doer responsible for implementing water quality monitoring projects for municipal stormwater and watershed science studies. The role involves developing innovative monitoring tools and methods, developing client relationships, managing project teams, and serving as a senior technical expert. The team works to serve our existing and rapidly growing client base in multiple sectors; including public agencies (Phase I and II NPDES Permittees), industrial clients (ie: aerospace, manufacturing, food service, etc.), schools and universities, and development (real estate and construction). This position is available for our San Diego, CA office and offers a remote/hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

You are qualified for this position if you are a proven technical expert, solutions oriented, and a knowledgeable seller/doer with strong inter-personal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge and background with southern California NPDES Permits, specifically with the Phase I-San Diego/Riverside/Orange County MS4 Permits. Other Phase I, Phase II, Industrial, and Construction Permits experience is desirable or other relevant specialty, e.g., natural resources, Flood Control studies, bioassessment, or other related field, and be active in local or statewide trade agencies (e.g., CASQA, , IEA, WERF, BIA or other local environmental organizations). You have successfully led field teams and managed client relationships in the Southern California Region. Your natural leadership style fosters trust and rapport with clients, regulators and your team. You are a leader who excels in a collaborative team environment of like-minded experts and are recognized by your peers for the ability to interpret technical and analytical data and present it in a clear concise and understandable reports and graphics for clients (and the layperson). You will promote our brand and build business through interaction with prospects and clients, high quality work, publications, and technical presentations.

Key Responsibilities will include:

    Executing specialized water quality and water quantity studies, special studies, and regulatory compliance interpretations and implementation services.
  • Preparing Sampling and Analysis Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and other relevant technical reports.
  • Managing municipal agency, industrial, and/or construction NPDES monitoring and reporting projects.
  • Growing client relationships through consultative technical sales to develop projects and drive business growth.
  • Performing regulatory compliance services and permit acquisition.
  • Leading and mentoring technical staff to help them grow their careers as expert
  • Interfacing directly with technical leads and clients to determine service needs for developing technical proposals (scope, costs, schedule, and budgets).
  • Responsible for quality control review of proposals and reports written by others.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D degree from an accredited university in civil/environmental/ chemical engineering or related sciences field and at least 10+ years of demonstrated consulting experience in Southern California.

  • Storm water industry certifications are desired (e.g., CPSWQ, CPESC, QSD/P, QISP).
  • Strong understanding of the San Diego Region Phase I NPDES Permit. Other Phase I MS4 permits in southern California is desirable.
  • Extensive experience with water quality monitoring equipment (autosamplers, water quality meters, flow monitoring, data loggers, remote telemetry, innovative use of novel monitoring devices).
  • Strong operational use of computer databases and office programs (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare reports and proposals.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills a must.
  • Project team management oversight and leadership ability.

The pay range for this California position is $130,000- $160,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
