Job Summary
Temporary, part-time instructor for Fall Semester 2024.
Provides competency-based quality instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the College in classroom, lab and clinical settings.

Essential Functions
Teaches assigned courses in the classroom in accordance with course competencies and syllabi. Develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students. Fosters a safe and civil learning environment. Develops and maintains current course syllabi and outlines; prepares lecture/lab and class materials. Informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies. Works collegially in an academic environment. Monitors, evaluates, and documents student attendance, progress and competency attainment; submits related reports as required. Promotes the College and the program. Participates in professional development activities and stays current in his/her field.
This part-time position teaches in DMACC’s Criminal Justice Career Academy. Faculty teach criminal justice core curriculum to high school students who earn DMACC college credit.
This position teaches in the morning OR/AND afternoon, two-hour block daily to high school students who travel to the DMACC Southridge Center, teaching two courses from the Criminal Justice program curriculum weekly:
CRJ 100 Introduction to Criminal Justice
CRJ 141 Criminal Investigation
CRJ 201 Juvenile Delinquency
CRJ 107 Survey of Criminal Justice Agencies
Program curriculum can be explored here and explore the AAS degree or the transfer AA degree.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law degree, or master’s degree (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Public Administration, or Homeland Security) with at least 12 graduate semester hours in a combination of the qualifying fields that provide a foundation in the specific subject matter being taught.
3 years (or equivalent of 6,000 hours) formal training and professional tested criminal justice work experience.
Demonstrated effectiveness working with populations having diverse values, and/or coming from varied cultures and backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications
Teaching Experience. Ability to use and apply alternative instructional delivery systems to enhance learning. Experience teaching, working, or volunteering with high school students.

Work Schedule
7:40 am – 9:40 am: Monday through Thursday, in person
AND/OR
1:10 pm – 3:10 pm: Monday through Thursday, in person
