Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be involved in NIH-funded research project. Using a combination of state-of-the-techniques, including slice physiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics and behavioral tests, the project aims to understand how the prefrontal cortex exerts top-down control over other brain regions to regulate social behaviors. This study will reveal a novel prefrontal circuitry in the regulation of sociability in sex-specific manner and provide novel insights into the sex differences in neural circuits that may go awry in psychiatric conditions where social motivation is significantly disrupted.
Essential Functions
- Design and execute experiments
- Monitor animals and animal care
- Data analysis
- Manuscript preparation for publication
- Present findings at conferences and other meetings
- Assist in training junior lab members
- Meet with PI and other lab members
- Apply for fellowships
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications
- Ability to independently design and execute experiments and interpret data
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative environment
- Outstanding oral and written skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in electrophysiology, imaging, optogenetics, chemogenetics, small surgery, and animal behavior, etc
