AGENCY SUMMARY:
Child Care Resources (CCR) has been at the forefront of the early learning landscape for over 30 years ensuring that all children have equitable access to safe, engaging, and positive early learning experiences that promote school readiness and lifetime success. With a staff of over 140 and a budget of $27.2 million (99% publicly funded), CCR provides a broad array of services for families and child care providers so that they in turn can support the development and well-being of our children.
**OPPORTUNITY:

  • The Family Resource Center Navigator helps identify and assist families with meeting their child care financial needs. They primarily provide enhanced referral services for families across the state—outside King/Pierce counties- including case management and state subsidy application assistance. They maintain network of service providers across the state and provide referral services to families. The goal of these services is to ensure that children across the state can access affordable quality early learning opportunities.


The Child Care Aware of Washington Family Resource Center is a call center operated by Child Care Resources that connects caregivers from across the state (parents, guardians, case managers) with high quality early learning opportunities for the children in their care. Each week, as part of the eight-person call center team, the Family Resource Center Specialist helps dozens of families find the right early learning setting for their children.

The Family Resource Center Navigator helps identify and assist families with meeting their child care financial needs. They primarily provide enhanced referral services for families across the state—outside King/Pierce counties- including case management and state subsidy application assistance. They maintain network of service providers across the state and provide referral services to families. The goal of these services is to ensure that children across the state can access affordable quality early learning opportunities.

The Family Resource Center- Subsidy Navigator is a member of the Family Services Department and reports to the Family Resource Center Lead. They work closely with the other seven members of the Family Center Team. This position is currently remote until further notice.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide culturally relevant, inclusive services over the phone and by email to families, caregivers, service providers, and other community members
  • Actively engage with the team to meet the needs of families and children, community partners and stakeholders as well as meeting the deliverables of program contracts and funders
  • Provide caregiver education (regional and statewide information), including elements of quality child care and how to identify and choose quality child care
  • Complete program intakes and perform child care radius searches for caregivers while providing additional information and referrals, as necessary
  • Assist families to access Working Connections Child Care subsidy (WA state) and other public benefits, when eligible;
  • Opportunities to work on other special projects, such as community outreach, child care provider updates, legislative advocacy, racial equity caucusing, hosting extended learning opportunities, etc.
  • Assist with maintaining client and provider data integrity by reviewing and cleaning-up client files; contacting child care providers to obtain updated information and performing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks as determined by contracts, DCYF, community initiative or industry best practice
  • Prepare reports and other written materials related to the program
  • Maintain on-going support and monitoring of parent’s progress in maintaining child care, housing and related services
  • Keep accurate program records and document all services provided for each family

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 Years of Relevant experience or;
  • Associates in Early Education or relevant field and 3 years relevant experience or;
  • Bachelors in Early Education or relevant field and 2 years relevant experience
  • Masters in Early Education or relevant field and 1 years relevant experience
  • Experience working with families experiencing homelessness
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, child care and other early learning opportunities
  • Knowledge of McKinney Vento
  • An advocate for structural change, grounded in principles of racial equity and social justice
  • Approach work with a sense of possibility, see challenges as opportunities for creative problem-solving, and work to find creative solutions
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy, and inclusion
  • Ability to approach all work with a racial equity lens
  • Experience working with low-income families
  • Understanding of the effects of poverty, racism, and classism on families from marginalized communities and populations
  • Experience with case management and/or family advocacy
  • Effective interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to constructively manage conflict
  • Ability to work under deadlines, work on several tasks simultaneously
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and data entry experience is helpful

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary Range: $50,000-$57,971
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • This is a full time salaried position requiring work during CCR Business hours, Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm and requiring a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is a Hybrid Position
  • Employees Child Care Resources employees in all types of work positions (hybrid, field, etc.) must attend trainings, meetings, events, or other work commitments at various CCR office locations or off-site locations in Washington State including New Employee Orientation in Kent, Washington.
