Job Description


The Laboratory of Cognitive Neurobiology at Boston University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for the position of Post-doctoral Candidate. The position will involve working on projects related to our studies investigating the neurobiological bases of age-related cognitive decline and recovery of function after brain injury. The position will involve processing brain and spinal cord tissue with histological and molecular techniques and assisting with animal (rhesus monkeys) care and clinical procedures. Opportunities to teach graduate courses in neuroscience and anatomy are available to the candidate.

CORE DUTIES IN DETAIL:

  • Prepare and section post-mortem brain and spinal cord tissue from non-human primates
  • Conduct immunohistochemical, biochemical and molecular analysis of brain and spinal cord tissue from rhesus monkeys.
  • Perform or assist in routine clinical procedures, blood processing and surgery preparation with rhesus monkeys.

PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology or a related scientific field is required. Experience working with animals and especially rhesus monkeys is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with some of the following is expected:

  • In situ labeling assays (Immunohistochemistry, RNAscope)
  • Basic molecular assays (RNA isolation, qPCR)
  • Basic biochemical assays (ELISA, Western Blot)
  • Tissue culture
  • Laboratory Animal Research
