Job Description

HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) ADMINISTRATOR, Chemistry, to serve as a key strategic partner in the delivery of HR services. Will oversee all HR activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and development, and employee relations; ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations; interpret and provide advice on complex HR issues, policies and procedures; write, maintain, and provide guidance on job descriptions; collaborate on employee relations issues; mediate complaints and disciplinary issues; manage weekly support staff payroll; review and process HR forms; file and database maintenance; manage full-cycle sourcing, hiring, and onboarding; manage annual salary and performance review processes, providing guidance and ensuring that managers and staff have the appropriate training/resources; advise foreign nationals on visa process and coordinate work authorization; actively engage in developing and supporting a diverse and inclusive environment; solicit and input faculty summer salary appointments; manage outside professional activities reporting; coordinate department trainings and seminars; and handle other duties and special projects.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; four years’ HR generalist experience; discretion and good judgment with confidential matters; attention to detail; strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; comprehensive knowledge of ability to be a resource on federal and state employment laws and current HR principles/practices/trends; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Quickbase, and FileMaker Pro or their equivalents; and ability to problem solve expeditiously, work independently and cross-functionally across all levels, lead and deliver projects on time, manage competing short- and long-term goals/projects, and work effectively with others as part of a team. PREFERRED: MIT experience and knowledge of its guidelines, policies/procedures, and systems; and SHRM-(S)CP or S/PHR certification. Job #21730-8
