Job Description
Richard Bland College (RBC) of the College of William & Mary is seeking a full-time Custodian to provide ongoing care of facilities and to aid in providing a clean and safe learning and working environment. The ideal candidate will perform custodial work to ensure cleanliness of facilities and grounds; clean hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, and other facilities on a scheduled basis; strip and wax floors. This position will also assist staff in moving furniture and equipment; Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas neat and clean; identify and report items in buildings that needs repair/physical damage to the Facilities Manager.

The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, weekends if needed during events. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of operating standard cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team environment
  • Working knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Physical requirements of this job include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move a wide variety of items from one place to another, including carts and supplies; utilize foresight, concentration.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work and stand for long periods of time in performing job assignments, with occasional outdoor work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable of Property Management, Housing and Facilities is preferred.
